World leaders are often looked upon to chart a clear plan on how to address the urgent climate issues that are manifesting in one country after another. While the COP26 summit affords them the opportunity to pool together ideas, what is pressing at this point is a move from talks to actions.
Countries all over the world differ in terms of their exposure to climate change, resilience to shocks as well as adaptive strategies. As such, solution transportation from one country might not find easy application in another.
In Africa, our reality is different; taking collective climate actions is now critical than ever. Why? Because the continent is disproportionately vulnerable to the impacts of climate change which compromise its development and threaten the livelihoods of millions of Africans.
Even worse, many Africans have to contend with many other socio-economic challenges that the reality of climate change takes a backseat and/or is even ignored.
Part of this issue is what Climateaction.africa hopes to explore with its upcoming Climate Action Stakeholders Forum. Tagged “Building Sustainable Climate Action Ecosystem,” the event is slated to hold on Friday, October 8, 2021.
