The 2022 Start Up Energy Transition Award has opened nominations for energy startups and young companies worldwide who are working on ideas affecting global energy transition and climate change.
Powered by the German Energy Agency (dena), in partnership with the World Energy Council, the Start Up Energy Transition Award has received more than 2,300 applications from 102 countries in the last four years.
Recognizing that startups and innovation are playing a crucial role towards achieving a net-zero future, the Start Up Energy Transition Award is a platform that aims to empower voice to the innovators of tomorrow to ensure that decision-makers place innovation in energy at the top of their agendas, while industry leaders employ innovation as the clear path to their decarbonization goals.

Benefits of participation
Finalists will get to pitch at SET Tech Festival; after which selected winners will receive the following:

- International media coverage across the World Energy Council’s global energy network in 99 countries.
Requirements
Only national and international companies, startups, and SMEs that contribute to the success of the energy transition with their products can apply for the ‘Start Up Energy Transition Award’ (‘SET Award’).
To qualify, applicants must meet all the eligibility requirements:
- The company must have been founded no more than 10 years before
- The company must have an existing, manufactured product, or existing prototype. It is not possible to apply with just an idea for which no concrete steps have been taken.
- The company must be registered or be in the process of becoming registered;
- The applicant must be able to present a proof of concept or a client, and/or an industrial/corporate/institutional partner.

- Applicants may only apply to one category. Note that all subsequent applications to other categories will be disqualified.
- The application, including any attached documents, must be in English.
