You can now apply for the Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 11 (US$50,000 grant)

Applications are now open to all solution providers for the Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 11.

The Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 11 welcomes solutions from young innovators that utilize affordable and scalable innovative as well as sustainable solutions and building materials to enable low-carbon, circular, carbon-neutral, and even carbon negative cities; increase access to sustainable infrastructure, from green mobility to green energy; promotes sustainable lifestyles connecting nature and cities; drive circular economy approaches to enable more recycling.

This challenge is being supported by Holcim and aims to find and support solutions that make cities greener by pushing the boundaries of sustainable construction and urbanization.

Prize

The winning solution to the Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG 11 will receive:

– A US$50,000 grant from Holcim
– Sponsorship to take part in the One Young World Summit 2022 in Tokyo from May 16-19.
– 12 months mentorship from a team of Holcim professionals who will work to drive the winning solution based on organizational initiative and needs like business strategy, product design, best practices for data collection, and monitoring and evaluation.

Eligibility

  • Solutions should evidently align with the Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 11 supported by Holcim.
  • Must be founded by a person aged 18 – 30.
  • Should have a well-structured time horizon, identified key stakeholders and beneficiaries, and proposed outcomes that are reasonable and well thought out.
  • Product/service should already be in the market or ready to go to market.
  • Solutions must have a positive social impact, e.g. generating employment or developing skills and the impact must have been adequately measured and/or be measurable.
  • Ability to achieve efficiency and survive independently through the resources they generate and/or the investments and donations they attract.
  • Must have the potential to perform or even better after expanding in scope or size and/or after being transported to other regions.
