Seplat Energy Plc recently announced the commissioning of its projects to supply electrical power to Oben Cottage Hospital in Edo State. This project will be carried out from its facility in Oben Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state.
The company announced that the undertaking was a result of its mission to the responsibilities to its host communities.
Seplat is focused on maximizing hydrocarbon production and recovery from existing assets, acquiring and farming into new opportunities in Nigeria that offer production, cash flow, and reserve replacement potential, with a particular focus on onshore and shallow water offshore areas, as well as realizing the upside potential within its portfolio through exploration and appreciating the value of its underlying assets.
“To provide a more sustainable constant power supply, we continued with our plan to supply energy to the hospital from our facility in Oben”.
Mr. Roger Brown, Seplat Energy’s Chief Executive Officer who was represented by Mr. Folorunsho Afolabi, Managing Director, Seplat West Limited commented that the company had worked to put in place a viable solution for potentially reliable electricity to the hospital in the long run.
The initiative would provide the Cottage Hospital with a continuous power supply straight from the company’s location at Oben’s new Field Logistics Base, allowing the hospital to provide adequate health care services to the Oben Field Communities of Oben, Iguelaba, Ikobi, and Obozogbe N’Ugu, as well as the surrounding area.
Seplat had previously ensured the hospital’s connectivity to the national grid and supplied electricity generating sets.
