E-waste makes up an increasing proportion of municipal waste and leads to a growing amount of toxic substances in local waste streams.
To mitigate this, concepts for repair, refurbishment, and reuse of EEE are applied to reduce the negative impact on the environment by extending product lifetime, closing resource loops, and optimizing resource efficiency while providing a range of social and economic benefits
For this reason, the RRR Accelerator is calling for NGOs or private companies with plans to take up innovative projects to promote the reuse, refurbishment, and repair (RRR) of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) in low-income and middle-income countries.
These innovative projects that support RRR must be executed in a five-month period between May and September of 2022.
The RRR Accelerator is part of the Innovate & PREVENT program of the PREVENT Waste Alliance, and it is implemented by Adelphi and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
