Nestlé rolls out Sustainability Training for Kids Program in Nigeria

Nestlé Nigeria has launched a sustainability training program for kids, to help them become environmentally conscious and embrace a more sustainable approach to manage and recycle waste.

This maiden edition of the program is set to benefit over 150 Grade 5 students in two schools in Ogun State, Nigeria: St Paul’s Anglican School, Obafemi Owode, and Salvation Army Agbara.

The goal of the initiative is to instill in the younger generation eco-friendly practices that will enable them to contribute towards making the earth a sustainable and clean planet.

Organized under the company’s flagship program, Nestlé for Healthier Kids (N4HK), the Sustainability Training for Kids is being implemented in partnership with the International Climate Change Development Initiative (ICCDI).

This training is part of Nestlé’s mission which is to preserve the planet for future generations by ensuring that its packaging including containers does not become pollutants.

Commenting at the opening session at St Paul’s Anglican School, Victoria Uwadoka, the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Manager of Nestlé Nigeria PLC, said, “Children must take an active part in ensuring a more sustainable approach to waste, and we are happy to help to prepare them for this important role.

The Sustainability Training for Kids is specially designed to help children inculcate the right habits at an early age.”

According to her, the company’s engaging, informative, yet fun-filled approach will motivate them to care about sustainability and encourage them to share the same enthusiasm with their families and friends.

Olumide Idowu, founder of the International Climate Change Development Initiative also said, “We have a lot to learn about waste management and recycling to make the environment much safer.

This is not just for us, but for future generations. This is why this training is important to encourage children to do their part to save our planet.”
