While climate change affects everyone, the poor are disproportionately affected. This is due to a lack of money to purchase the goods and services required to protect themselves and recover from the harshest consequences of climate change. This is true in Africa.
According to UNEP, youth constitute more than 60% of Africa’s population, making them the continent’s most prominent nonstate actor constituency in terms of numbers. The need to tap into their inherent attributes of energy, creativity, skills, and talents to drive climate action while opening doors for them is critical, as they can develop tech and climate advocacy across the continent.
