Climateaction.africa is hiring: Community Manager and Content Writers/Researchers

Climateaction.africa is a proudly African NGO working at the forefront of Africa’s climate action ecosystem.

 

We are currently looking for qualified individuals to fill up the following roles in our organization:

 

  • – Researcher (Lagos)
  • – Community Manager (Lagos)
  • – Content Writers (Lagos & Anambra)

 

CONTENT WRITERS/RESEARCHERS

 

As a Content Writer, you will work to produce enriching and engaging climate and sustainability-related content for the organization’s website and social media accounts.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • – Developing engaging and compelling website content that represents our organization’s mission and vision for our audience
  • – Creating weekly newsletters which will contain significant articles, news, events, and accomplishments from within and outside our organization.
  • – Assisting in the development of content strategies
  • – Effectively addressing our target audience and ensuring that the material of communication is well-researched, and backed up by credible sources with a balanced blend of storytelling, facts, and proactive advice.

 

Requirements

 

  • – Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication/Journalism
  • – Minimum of 2 years of working experience as a Writer/Researcher in the climate ecosystem (you can apply if you’re willing to learn on the job). Previous working experience at an advocacy organization will be an advantage.
  • – Knowledgeable in multimedia and social media.
  • – Experience in creating and posting content via WordPress, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other socials.
  • – Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) and web metrics
  • – Proficiency in MS Office (Microsoft Word and Microsoft Powerpoint) applications and graphic design platforms (Photoshop, Lightroom, Canva, etc.) is preferred.
  • – Great research, proofreading, copywriting, and copy editing skills with proper tone, sentence structure, and word count, ensuring the content is on brand, factually correct, and that the language used is accurate as well user-friendly.

 

COMMUNITY MANAGER

 

As our Community Manager, you will own and evolve our social media strategy to drive audience growth and engagement while also playing a key role in shaping the voice of our organization and making our presence felt both online and offline.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • – Plan and execute community initiatives and programs.
  • – Plan and maintain our social content calendar across all key social media channels (Instagram, Twitter,
  • – Facebook, LinkedIn, Telegram, Youtube, Clubhouse)
  • – Work with our editorial team to devise new and innovative content ideas to promote and elevate our content
  • – Create clear copy and engaging content across social platforms using branding guidelines and tools such as Canva or Photoshop.
  • – Monitor social media campaigns and analyze web traffic from the online community using key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • – Use our web and social analytics to guide us in making decisions for our future strategy and direction
  • – Provide community feedback to the management and stakeholders
  • – Maintain current partnerships and forge new ones across our community to create new opportunities and unlock new resources for the network.
  • – Find new marketing and outreach opportunities to push brand image and projects.
  • – Work with stakeholders in the climate and sustainability ecosystem to ensure accurate brand representation.
  • – Participate in social events, corporate events, and workshops.

 

Requirements

 

  • – Minimum of 2 years working as a Community Manager in the climate ecosystem (you can apply if you’re willing to learn on the job)
  • – Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to develop creative, engaging, and original content
  • – Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) and web metrics
  • – Experience with newsletter writing and video editing
  • – Must know your way around Twitter (our biggest following) and Instagram (a platform we would like to develop more).
  • – Must be engaging and responsive on social channels, with an ability to think on the spot and use judgment on how and when to respond
  • – Proficient in word processing applications, spreadsheets, presentation software, and social media campaign and management tools
  • – Friendly and outgoing personality with good judgment and problem-solving skills
