African startups can apply for LaunchLab ACE Africa circular business showcase

Are you a startup with excellent ideas that can drive circular innovations in health, food, and climate? If yes, why not apply for the ACE Africa Circular Business Showcase competition

Organized by Stellenbosch University LaunchLab (SU LL), the circular business showcase is part of the ACE Africa project which aims to help African firms embrace the circular economy.

Individuals and businesses from all over the continent will be able to exhibit their ideas and products at the event.

Applicants must live in Africa and be willing to become an ACE Africa Entrepreneur and participate in one of SU LL’s incubation programs while qualified businesses must also be based in Africa.

Eligibility

To qualify as a startup or an individual entrepreneur, you must

  • Be operational for at least six months;
  • Have innovative ideas that contribute to the circular economy;
  • Launched a Minimum Viable Product (MVP);
  • Have at least one full-time team member.
Expectation

The competition will shortlist the best competitors and choose eight to sixteen finalists after a selection procedure.

On November 30, the competitors will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges and possible investors in an online live event. They’ll each have three minutes to pitch their idea or business, followed by a three-minute Q&A period.

Benefits of participation

The winning company will get $1713.90, a position in an SU LL incubation program.

Businesses that emerge in second and third place will earn $1028.34 and $685.56 respectively.

The successful entrepreneur will get $342.78

Winners will participate in a one-hour mentorship session with the incubation team.

Winners will have access to a one-hour consumer discovery workshop with the second and third-place winners.
