The earth needs attention and care from its inhabitants. Global warming has become a looming doom hovering over humanity and waiting to happen. Its signs are already all over the place.
There is an increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and it is mostly self-inflicted because the burning of fossil fuels by individuals, companies and industries is on the rise, especially in developed countries, then the burning of bushes and the use of kerosene lamps in the rural regions also contributes to global warming.
Deforestation
Constant felling of trees plays a major role in driving global warming as, the release of carbon dioxide during deforestation will increase because the amount of the carbon dioxide captured by the trees will infiltrate the ecosystem, it should be noted that up to one-fifth of earth’s greenhouse gas emission comes from deforestation and forest degradation.
Power plants
Another cause is power plant, the amount of carbon emission that stems from burning fossil fuels for electricity by power plants causes global warming.
Industries, companies and business owners especially in the municipal regions are very much guilty of this.
Transportation
The mobility of goods and people using fuel-driven vehicles isn’t reducing anytime soon, as the growth in population is leading to more mobility.
Farm
Many wonder how farming can contribute to global warming. With Industrial farming, heavy machines are used and they emit a high level of methane and carbon dioxide. So yes, farming also contributes to global warming.
Garbage
If waste disposal is not well managed, it can cause global warming. This is because waste releases methane and nitrous oxide glasses, and this gets worse also, especially for rural communities with no system of waste collection and recycling.
Fertilizers
Yes, fertilizers contribute to global warming too. Agriculture byproducts release nitrous oxide, the application of this nitrogen, though rich, can increase the amount of heat cropland can store.
According to a report, nitrogen oxide can trap up to 300 times more heat than carbon dioxide.
Oil drilling
The oil drilling industries have a large impact on the globe, this is because they burn a lot of fossil fuels as a result of heavy generators employed for drilling, processing and distribution of oil. With the amount of fossil fuels they emit, oil drilling contribution to global warming can’t be underestimated.
Volcanic Eruption
The case of volcano is not often recorded, but still, it contributes to global warming but its impact is very little. Volcanic eruptions release carbon dioxide, which is a greenhouse gas that can cause global warming.
Permafrost
This is a layer on or under Earth’s surface that is permanently frozen, it consists of soil, gravel and sand. when this permafrost melts, it releases tons of greenhouse gasses trapped underneath it thereby speeding up the melting of more permafrost which leads to global warming.
Natural Gas Drilling
natural gas drilling causes massive air pollution that also leads to global warming.
The effects of global warming
The earth is already paying dearly for global warming as its catastrophic disasters of extreme climate change are causing a lot of havoc.
The effect is felt by both plants and animals. There is an increase in ocean levels, droughts and changing weather.
Global warming is affecting human health. Heat and polluted air can increase health complications like respiratory conditions ;like asthma, and underlying heart issues. If the heat continues to rise, there will be more heat related health issues.
